4 KEYS TO THRIFTING

Have you wanted to bargain shop or thrift? Have you seen others find amazing deals and items while thrifting? Is thrifting overwhelming because you don't know where to begin? If so, here are a few tips to get you started and make it a fun adventure.

SHOP OFTEN AND BE PATIENT.

Thrift stores constantly get new donations. Inventory is typically added multiple times a day. You can go into a store one day and return the next day, and there is a whole new section of items throughout the store. Make sure to shop in all areas of the store. This is key because sometimes items are mislabeled and are in the wrong section. You may find a woman's shirt in the little girl's area. Also, sometimes people change their mind about an item and leave it in the wrong section. Be sure to check the boards and signs at the entrance. Some stores offer discounts on colored tags. ALWAYS check the return rack by the dressing room it's typically a win.

TAKE YOUR TIME.

Thrift shopping is rarely a 20-minute trip. DON'T RUSH.   Give yourself at least an hour. It takes time and effort to find the best deals and unique items. Bring your headphones/earbuds to listen to good music as you shop. It helps tp get you in the mindset! The saying "Patience is a virtue" is never more accurate than when it comes to thrifting.

HAVE A PLAN AND AN OPEN MIND.

Thrifting is a great way to experiment with fashion and discover new looks. Have an idea of what you are looking for before you start browsing. This will help you stay focused and save time. Creating a Pinterest board for inspiration and outfit ideas is. Keep an open mind and be willing to try new styles or items that you wouldn't normally consider.

EXAMINE EVERYTHING

Pay attention to detail. Although the thrift store can is filled with tons of items, these items vary in condition. You might find a quality brand item, but it is in poor condition. I suggest passing on it. When you find a clothing item you like, check it for holes, tears (especially near the seams), and stains. Try the item on if possible, test electronics before purchasing to see if they work, and lastly, check if an item is missing parts.

HAPPY THRIFTING!
